Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright visited Cubbington Mill Care Home on Friday 19 June as the home opened its doors to the general public for National Care Home Open Day.

Mr Wright spent time greeting residents, staff and members of the local community at Cubbington Mill where the care home was decked out in a 1940s theme for the day’s celebration, with staff dressed as land girls and as members of war time military personnel. Staff at the home had also arranged for a 1940s war time sing-a-long as well as a visit from serving members of the Army from Kineton.

National Care Home Open Day was part of a nationwide initiative in which all homes across the country collectively opened their doors to the general public for the first time. The day connected care homes with their local communities allowing people to see for themselves the level of care available to their loved ones.

Following his visit, Jeremy Wright said: “National Care Home Open Day is a wonderful experience for everyone involved. It was great that members of the public were able to come in and see for themselves the excellent services at the heart of Cubbington.”

“During my visit I took time to look around the home and see for myself the how good care can be delivered.”

“Care Home Open Day is a great way of demystifying care. Many people have fears about care homes that are not based on experience. I hope more people than ever will cross the threshold of their local care home and find out what the team are doing to deliver great care."
